The list of documents needed to register a death in India is as follows:

  1. Medical certificate outlining the cause of death

  2. Full name, address and occupation of the deceased

  3. Date and place of death, as well as the date and place of birth

  4. The deceased’s state pension or other benefits documents

  5. The names of the spouse and children of the deceased (also the dates of birth if the children are under 16), and the spouse’s occupation
